Piercing Training FAQs
Do I need prior piercing experience?
No experience is required. Our training is designed for beginners, and we’ll walk you through everything step-by-step, from sanitation to technique.
Will I really know how to pierce after class?
Yes—you’ll learn and perform real piercings during training. Most students feel confident offering basic piercings immediately after completing the program.
What piercings will I learn?
You’ll start with the most common piercings (lobes, nostril, helix, forward helix, tragus, and conch) and learn proper needle techniques. Advanced piercings (rook, daith, septum, nipple, and navel) and troubleshooting are also covered so you feel well-prepared.
What about jewelry?
We’ll provide professional starter jewelry during training and teach you how to source safe, high-quality materials for clients. You’ll also learn sizing, sterilization, and jewelry handling.
Is piercing regulated?
Like tattooing, regulations vary by state and county. Arizona does not currently regulate piercing at the state level, but we’ll teach you proper sanitation and safety protocols that meet (or exceed) professional standards. Always check your local requirements before starting work.
Do I need insurance for piercing?
Yes. Piercers should carry professional liability insurance. We recommend Biberk.com—they can guide you to the correct level of coverage depending on your services.
Tattoo Training FAQs
Do I need to know how to draw?
Not necessarily. Most of our students haven’t drawn much since school, but because you’ve been writing since kindergarten, you already have the motor skills needed. Tattooing is about practice, repetition, and applying what you learn in class. The students who succeed the most usually have a genuine desire to be there, a moderate level of creativity, and a strong work ethic.
Will I really know how to tattoo after two days?
You’ll leave class with the foundation to tattoo right away, but mastery comes with consistent practice. Most students become fairly skilled within 6–12 months after completing our course. With dedication, many go on to earn around $10k per month once they’re established.
Where will I work?
Most salons are open to renting space for 1–2 days a week, and many beauty locations offer commission opportunities right after class. Both of our owners also hire quarterly and provide rental and commission positions to qualified graduates.
Where should I stay?
We recommend booking an Airbnb in the 85018 area for convenience. If your model session is the same day you plan to fly home, plan your return flight at least 4 hours after your start time to ensure a smooth schedule.
Licensing
Tattoo licensing varies by state. In Arizona, there are currently no state regulations, but we teach you the proper safety and sanitation protocols to meet the highest standards. If you plan to work in another state, reach out to your local health department to understand their requirements.
Insurance
During class, we’ll provide guidance on the best insurance options. We recommend Biberk.com—you can call them, explain your business model, and they’ll advise you on the right coverage for your needs.
